March is the Month of Macallan at McTear's The Rare & Collectable Whisky Auction started with a bang – the first lot 976, the Talisker 1958, set the tone of the sale by cruising to reach the higher end of its estimate of £600 hammer.

Macallan put in a good show as always, and the 1946 bottle (lot 1100) reached a fantastic hammer price of £7,000. Other stand out Macallan bottles included lot 1034, the 25th Anniversary distilled in 1967, which made £1,500, and lot 1050 the Macallan Royal Wedding 1981, which achieved £1,400.
One of the more unusual bottles in the sale, the Irish Old Cro’ whisky liqueur (lot 1001) made a very respectable £1,600 hammer.

Our special guest, the Spey Cask 27, 25 year old (lot 1150) rose to £650 hammer after competitive bidding and went to a very happy client. It was a great pleasure and honour to be involved in the release of such a landmark bottle from the Speyside Distillery.
