YOU AUTO SEE THIS TIN!  If you cross a classic car with a biscuit what do you get? In this case an incredibly rare and collectable biscuit tin. This month we feature lot 420, a rare 1920's biscuit tin by William Crawford and Sons in the form of a sports coupe. Even more rare is that it has battery operated electric headlights.

William Crawford and Sons, a firm of bakers in Leith, Edinburgh, was founded in 1813. The milestone in success for the firm, came with the opening of the Liverpool works in 1897. As well being known for food stuffs, it was widely known for its modern approach to employee relations. They provided a clean and pleasant factory, staff rooms, in house health care and even its own dentist. So, it is no surprise many employees made Crawford's their lifelong career.

Biscuit tins are widely collected as many firms, the best known being Huntley and Palmers, or Carrs and Jacobs, produced novelty tins as a marketing device. Some were 'cheeky' with courting couples in bushes, others were in the form of books and so on. The possibilities were endless. But very few are actually electric.

The estimate for this novelty tin is an astonishing £2,000 to 3,000! Modest, since this model actually in mint condition and with its packaging and original biscuits inside broke the world record price and made £15,000! Is it time to raid your piggy bank! See you at the auction.
