The Rare and Collectable Whisky Auction on Wednesday saw our loyal clients – and some new faces – brave the wet and windy summer weather to bid on our excellent selection of whiskies. A large portion of our sale came from one private collection which we were honoured to offer for sale. This collection had been collated over a lifetime of whisky connoisseurship and ranged from the very rare to the more popular brands.
The standout lots were the MACALLAN 1938 (lot 700) with its handwritten label and vintage charm this bottle fetched an impressive £5,500, the rare BLACK BOWMORE 1964 1st EDITION (lot 426) claimed a whopping £4,800 and the BRORA 1972 RARE MALTS 22 YEARS OLD (lot 536) fetched £2,100 – way over its estimate.
Other excellent prices achieved were seen for the GLENFIDDICH 1963 VINTAGE RESERVE (lot 526) which made £2,000 – again way over estimate. The Macallan 25 Anniversary Malts put in a good showing as usual with a 1975 making £1,700 (lot 488) and a 1964 reaching £1,600 (lot 631). Great prices for this big Highland name.
We are now inviting entries for our September 14th 2016 sale and will be accepting consignments until 26th August. If you have any whisky or wine you would like valued or to consign please contact Laurie Black and Claire Douglas at firstname.lastname@example.org
