DALEK SELLS AT AUCTION

Dr Who fans were out in force in Glasgow last Saturday as one of the Time Lord’s deadliest enemies went under the hammer at the McTear's Antiques and Art auction.

Bidding was fierce but the live sized replica Dalek was eventually snapped up by the owner of Bullands restaurant in Milngavie for £2000, way above the original estimate of £450 to £550.

“There have been quite a few double takes since he appeared in our foyer,” says McTear’s Director, Brian Clements. “It was built by a Dr Who fan and is an exact replica of the Imperial Daleks that appeared with Sylvester McCoy and Colin Baker in earlier episodes of the hit show.

“There was a lot of interest in the sale so we were not surprised to see it go for such a good price.”

The white and gold alien has several moving parts, including eyes that light up, and even comes apart to allow the buyer to climb inside and take control.

Earlier in the week six year old Dr Who fan, Josh Henderson, from Thornliebank in Glasgow, visited the auction house to catch a glimpse of the Dalek before it went under the hammer. “I really like Dr Who and the Daleks are brilliant,” said Josh.

The selling price includes buyers premium and VAT thereon.
