GOOD LIVE STEAM HORIZONTAL ENGINE by John Campbell of Airdrie, 1900, contained in mahogany glazed case (also made by John Campbell), dimensions of case 97 cm long x 54 cm wide x 47 cm high John Campbell was an engineer in the shipyards on The Clyde and in his spare time he made this model which took three years to build, including the mahogany and glazed case. He entered the engine into Artisan Engineering Competitions. Included with the lot is an original photograph depicting Mr Campbell showing the model along with two certificates - Glasgow East End Industrial Exhibition, Duke St., Denniston, Dec. 9th 1903 to April 9th 1904; Scottish National Exhibition Edinburgh 1908 also a Corporation of Glasgow Museums & Art Galleries award certificate for 'three pounds' and three corresponding prize medals
