FANG NGIL GORILLA MASK,
wood, clay, elongated features particularly characteristic, applied clay around eyes and cheeks, three lobes to crown, scarification to forehead and running centrally from brow down nose, ghostly judgement mask used to invoke the punishment of the ancestors, mid to late 19th century, 46cm
Note: A similar although rarer example sold at Christie’s Paris on 30/10/2018 [Lot 98].

Provenance: Collection of Julien Harris (1910-2011) - see lot 1066.
