RARE: CANINE PORTRAIT PIN BY JOHN WILLIAM BAILEY,
mounted with a circular portrait of a greyhound 9mm diameter and signed J W Bailey to the reverse, the pin 80mm long, John William Bailey (1831-1914) was a painter of enamel miniatures who specialised in portraits of dogs. Bailey exhibited in the Royal Academy and his works are now within the V&A. He trained under William Essex (1784-1869) who is the artist responsible for the miniature set into lot 1302
