1960s CELTIC FOOTBALL & ATHLETIC COY. LIMITED CHEQUE MADE PAYABLE TO MANAGER JAMES MCGRORY,
for the sum of £685, signed by Robert Kelly and James McGrory, dated 13th December 1960, divisions verso, framed

Note: James ‘Jimmy’ McGrory (1904-1982) was known for his time as player and as manager of Celtic F.C. McGrory made his debut for the Bhoys in 1923 but truly made a name for himself at the club when he earned Celtic Scottish Cup victory in 1925, with a last minute goal to beat Dundee 2-1. On retirement in 1937, McGrory had amassed an impressive 472 goals in 445 league & Scottish Cup appearances. McGrory returned to Parkhead in 1945, this time as manager, a position he would retain for almost twenty years. During this time the club achieved honours including Coronation Cup victory in 1953, the Scottish League & Cup double in 1953-54 and the classic League Cup win in 1957.
