PLAQUE AWARDED TO TOMMY GEMMELL OF ST MIRREN FC,
a plaque awarded to the player in 1955 commemorating the match against Hungary on 29 May 1955, the plaque 9cm wide, in original fitted case 15cm wide
Note: Tommy Gemmell (1930 - 2004) was a Scottish footballer who played as an inside forward for St. Mirren F.C. for his entire senior football career. Although also capped for the Scotland national team - playing twice in May 1955 and scoring one goal for Scotland - Gemmell is best known as one of the Saints. Gemmell made over 250 league appearances for the club and aided their 1959 Scottish Cup campaign, where they reigned victorious in the final for just the second time in St Mirren's history. Tommy was an unused substitute in this friendly match between Scotland and Hungary, played in Budapest.
Provenance: The archive of the late Tommy Gemmell, this lot included, is offered at auction on behalf of the family of the late player.

- A small programme accompanies the plaque. This is written entirely in a foreign language, likely Hungarian. Please see additional photographs of this.
- The plaque is in fair to good condition. There are some signs of wear consistent with age and some scratches visible. The plaque is mounted in the display case and cannot be removed without application of some force. The case itself bears some signs of age and marks are visible.
