Note: London painter of genre and animal subjects and probably the brother of Henry Weekes. Weekes was one of a few talented artists who transformed animal painting of the 19th Century from its traditional status as a record of beasts to something approaching a reflection of human life. Weekes exhibited 37 paintings at the Royal Academy, and also at the Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Society of Painters in Oils and in the provinces.
