Hat with areas of thinning and an area of balding; further similar to underside; some loose bullion threads to the coils as well as general tarnish and discolouration; mottled in places as well as dirt and dust; tin with expected wear and tear

 

VICTORIAN NAVAL OFFICER'S BICORN HAT,
by Galt of Portsmouth, the black felt hat outlined in silk and with ribbon cockade, mounted in gilt bullion and with naval button to one side, 43cm long, the head hole 20cm long, contained in a tin case with plaquette inscribed 'Dr. Henry Richardson R.N.'
