IMPRESSIVE 19TH CENTURY NORTH ITALIAN ROSEWOOD AND BONE INLAID SIDE CABINET,
by Eugenis Forelli, Firenze 1883, the moulded cornice with frieze below inlaid with a row of classical figures within two female profile busts, adapted mirrored cupboard interior below emclosed by two panel doors inlaid with arched panels depicting St. George and Perseus, with upturned dolphin supports, similarly inlaid side panels depicting St. Michael and St. Margaret, supported by two outset columns inlaid with makers mark 'Eugenis Forelli' to one and 'Firenze 1885' to the other, long frieze drawer below inlaid with further classical figures, the open recessed area beneath supported by two carved and inlaid columns, the panelled back inlaid with a charioteer, on a platform base inlaid with a group of figures, on bracket feet, 113cm wide

Condition Report

Some losses to the inlays throughout. Historic split to back, split to wood above the frieze drawer. Hairline to each side of one leg, and split to the base of the other leg. Wood mounted border above frieze drawer somewhat loose; border to one side has come off. Some chipping to the wood, particularly at the corners. General surface wear, scuffs and dings to the wood, in keeping with age and use. Spots of desilvering to inside mirror, in keeping with age. Some tar like residue under the surface top mirror inside, likely from previous restoration. Breakage to inside mirror to one side. Images available.
