Note; James Dickson Innes was a British painter born in Llanelli South Wales, his father was Scottish and his mother was of Catalan descent. He was educated at Christ College, Brecon before studying at Carmartherthen School of Art and the Slade School of Art in London. He exhibited with the New English Art Club and in 1911 became a member of the Camden Town Group. His work is highly collected together with Derwent Lees who worked in a similar style. He travelled extensively through Europe and painted mainly mountain landscapes, but occasionally figure subjects. Innes worked in both oils and watercolours and of his style, art historian David Fraser Jenkins once wrote: "Like that of the Fauves in France and the German expressionists, the style of his work is primitive: it is child-like in technique and is associated with the landscape of remote places
