Despite churning out 3.5 million litres of spirit every year, Benrinnes is seldom seen as a single malt, with most of its output getting hoovered up by various blends. Those who do seek out the scant few special releases and independent bottlings will be rewarded by a meaty, powerful whisky, akin to Mortlach or Cragganmore; a result of the complex distillation process and use of worm-tub condensers.
