Still independently owned, Glenfarclas has been operated by the Grant Family since 1865 when John Grant bought the distillery for the princely sum of £511.19s.0d. In today’s money that’s about £69,000, so still a bargain.
The distillery’s microclimate ensures one of the lowest Angel’s Shares in Scotland, allowing Glenfarclas to release staggeringly old expressions that still boast eye watering ABVs, and their (almost) exclusive use of European oak Sherry Casks results in a whisky that’s resinous and rich in dried fruit notes.

A condition report is offered as an indication of any issues visible to the naked eye. As none of our staff is a professional conservator or restorer, buyers must satisfy themselves in respect of condition. The condition report does not form part of any contract between McTear's and the buyer, and all lots are offered "as is" in accordance with our Terms of Business available on our website.
