* RALSTON GUDGEON RSW (SCOTTISH 1910 - 1984)
TWO COCKERELS

watercolour on paper, signed

image size 60cm x 50cm, overall size 67cm x 57cm

Note: Ralston Gudgeon was a Scottish artist, best known for painting birds and animals mostly in gouache watercolour. He studied at the Glasgow School of Art in 1933 and won the Torrance Memorial Award of the Glasgow Institute. When Ralston Gudgeon was elected to the RSW in 1937, he became the youngest man ever to achieve that honour. In 2018, "The Scottish Wild Cat" by Gudgeon sold in our auction for £900 (hammer) which "signposted" a resurgence of collector interest in his work. This resurgence of buyer interest has continued unabated.

A condition report is offered as an indication of any issues visible to the naked eye. As none of our staff is a professional conservator or restorer, buyers must satisfy themselves in respect of condition and McTear’s can provide contact details of local professionals who can provide fully comprehensive expert reports, usually for a modest charge. The condition report does not form part of any contract between McTear's and the buyer, and all lots are offered "as is" in accordance with our Terms of Business available on our website.
