Note: a popular watercolourist who painted landscapes of Kirkcudright, Galloway and around Scotland. Born in Berlin where his father was a Church of Scotland Minister, he lived and worked at Old Tolbooth House Studio, Steeple Close, Kirkcudbright. Official artist on the King of Belgium’s Expedition in search of the tsetse fly, and the King of Sweden’s Expedition in the Gobi Desert.
