A contender for the title of prettiest distillery in Scotland, today Strathisla provides the heart of the Chivas Regal blend. Originally a brewery for the local monastery, the first licenced distillation took place in 1786 under the name Milltown distillery. In fact, it wasn’t until 1951 that it was rechristened Strathisla.
While it’s main focus is producing blending stock, the distillery does have some presence as single malt, primarily with it’s 12 Year Old official bottling. In addition, independent releases are easy enough to come by, with some of Gordon & MacPhail’s older expressions being held in particularly high regard.
A condition report is offered as an indication of any issues visible to the naked eye. As none of our staff is a professional conservator or restorer, buyers must satisfy themselves in respect of condition. The condition report does not form part of any contract between McTear's and the buyer, and all lots are offered "as is" in accordance with our Terms of Business available on our website.
