  Lot 525

AN UNTITLED OAK CARVING BY IAIN R MCINTOSH

* IAIN R MCINTOSH RSA (SCOTTISH 1945 - ),
UNTITLED
oak carving, signed with initials "IM" as is his norm
25cm high.
Note: Iain R. McIntosh RSA was born in 1945 in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, and studied at Gray’s School of Art. Trained as a sculptor, he is perhaps best known for his wood-carved boats and sailing vessels, inspired by his coastal upbringing. In recent years he has also begun to create paintings and drawings but his subject matter is still never far from the sea. He was elected Associate of The Royal Scottish Academy in 1981 and full Academician in 2005. His work very rarely appears at auction.

A condition report is offered as an indication of any issues visible to the naked eye. As none of our staff is a professional conservator or restorer, buyers must satisfy themselves in respect of condition and McTear’s can provide contact details of local professionals who can provide fully comprehensive expert reports, usually for a modest charge. The condition report does not form part of any contract between McTear's and the buyer, and all lots are offered "as is" in accordance with our Terms of Business available on our website.
