LATE 19TH CENTURY MAHOGANY APOTHECARY CHEST,
the hinged cover enclosing a silk lined interior fitted with eighteen glass bottles, these with handwritten and printed labels for 'BORAX', 'OLIVE OIL', 'CHOLOF', 'ETHER', 'TINCTURE OF IODINE', 'BISMUTH', 'AMMONIA', 'IODINE', 'CASTOR', 'ESSENCE GINGER', 'PAREGORIC', 'PEPPERMINT', 'BALSAM', 'NITRE', 'SAL VOLATILE', 'IPECACUANHA WINE', 'BORIC ACID', 'BORAX', and 'OLIVE OIL', centred by two graduated trays containing a glass syringe and two vials, the chest 30.5cm wide
