A LARGE CHINESE PAINTING

CHINESE SCHOOL (20TH CENTURY),
MOUNTAINOUS LANDSCAPE
watercolour on paper, signed with character script
90cm x 212cm, mounted on a board

Provenance: The painting was gifted to the merchant ship Burmah Endeavour in 1977 by its builders, the China Shipbuilding Corporation of Taiwan. It hung in the officers' dining saloon. When it came to scrap the ship, the painting passed to the current owner, who was Superintendent of the then-named Stena Queen.

 

A condition report is offered as an indication of any issues visible to the naked eye. As none of our staff is a professional conservator or restorer, buyers must satisfy themselves in respect of condition. The condition report does not form part of any contract between McTear's and the buyer, and all lots are offered "as is" in accordance with our Terms of Business available on our website.

Condition Report
There are no major damages, only a couple of very minor scuffs to surface, no tears. The painting has been adhesed to a hardboard panel. Overall in very nice condition.
