Note: Ethel Walker was born in Ayrshire in 1941 and studied Art at Glasgow School of Art from 1959 - 61. Over the years she has held countless solo shows and has featured in many group exhibitions in some of the finest commercial art galleries in the UK. In the 70's, 80's and 90's her solo exhibitions were shown almost exclusively in Scotland where she developed a strong following of collectors and enthusiasts. As her popularity grew she became in demand in London and the South. Over time Ethel began to concentrate her efforts on only selected galleries namely Flying Colours Gallery, Thackeray Gallery both of London and the prestigious Roger Billcliffe Gallery in Glasgow. Ethel's land and seascapes are renowned for their atmospheric feel, and living and working on Scotland's West coast, she has become a master of painting the varied weather conditions and ever-changing skies. However, it is Ethel's floral and still life painting, often including silver, that has brought the highest and most sustained critical acclaim. Ethel has won many of the major UK art prizes and awards and her work can be found in numerous important corporate and private collections throughout the world.
