Claire Douglas

Claire Douglas

Claire was born and brought up in the countryside outside of Glasgow. She studied History of Art, Classics and Geography at Glasgow University, graduating in History of Art. Claire then worked for a year on the Whistler Etchings Project developing her love of Whistler, the Pre-Raphaelites, Victoriana and Oriental Art. She then completed her post-graduate Master’s in the History of Collecting and Collections focusing again on Whistler and the influence of Oriental art on his work. Auctions became a natural progression for Claire after studying the patterns and fashions of collecting and she loves nothing more than to be surrounded by art and antiques.

Outside of work Claire is a keen horse rider who loves competing. She also enjoys getting outdoors for long countryside walks or, if it’s too wet, visiting art galleries and museums.
