Laurie was born in Watford in 1991, but has lived in Scotland since the age of two. Having been educated at George Heriot’s School in Edinburgh, he moved to Glasgow to undertake his BA(Hons) in Marketing at the University of Strathclyde. Laurie graduated in 2013 and began work at The Scotch Whisky Experience on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. It was here that his knowledge and enthusiasm for whisky started to develop, as he got to know his Dalwhinnies from his Dailuaines and became an aficionado in the fascinating merits of chill-filtration. Laurie joined McTear’s in October of 2015 as a Whisky Specialist. Despite only being old enough to purchase alcohol since 2009, Laurie has amassed an impressive knowledge of Scotland's national drink (not Irn-Bru) and is keen to further the McTear's whisky auction's reputation as one of the most prestigious in the country. Outside of work, Laurie enjoys spending time with his three young children and listening to the music of Elton John.
