Hammer Highlights

McTear’s inaugural Rolex Auction on 24 September featured 27 rare and vintage timepieces. The top selling lot was a true connoisseur collector’s item –  lot 769 was a gentleman’s submariner watch from the 1960s.

With its faded ‘tropical’ bezel, it attracted bids on the telephone, online and was eventually won by a bidder based on the west coast of Scotland for £15,500.

Lot 768 was a Daytona which made £13,500, seeing competition from the room before selling to a phone bidder based in the south of England.

Lot 777 was an unusual ‘root beer’ Rolex, with its distinctive brown and caramel bezel, which enjoyed competition from the internet, with the hammer falling to a delighted room bidder for £8000.
