Did you know McTear’s is the only Scottish auction house to hold dedicated watches auctions?
One thing that characterises these specialist sales is the variety of timepieces included. The sale on 24 September was no different, with highlights including a Cartier Pasha, Breitling Montbrilliant and a 1960s Omega Seamaster.
The Cartier Pasha at lot 843 was a great example of the stylish and simple watches for which the brand has become known. Strong competition online against three commission bidders was all finally overcome by a telephone bidder based in Wales paying £4100 including fees.
Lot 806, a Breitling Montbrilliant was won in the room by a local bidder for £2300.
The Omega Seamaster at lot 800 caused quite the stir when it sold for £900 to an online bidder based in Germany, against its estimate of £300-500.
