The Highland Park distillery was established in 1798, located on Orkney, it is currently the most northerly distillery in Scotland.
The story of how the distillery was established is shrouded in mystery and intrigue. Whilst it is widely believed that the distillery was founded by farmer David Robertson, some believe it was actually a smuggler by the name of Magnus Eunson.
Over its life the distillery has changed hands numerous times, bought by Highland distillers in 1937, which in turn were acquired by the Edrington group in 1999. The Edrington group also own the Macallan, Glenturret and the Famous Grouse brands.
With its iconic status and incredible spirit, Highland Park is a much sought after whisky by collectors, investors and drinkers.
McTear’s sells more whisky than any other traditional auction house in the dedicated whisky auctions that take place monthly, run concurrently live online on a platform that attracts six million visitors annually from over 120 countries worldwide.
