Tell us about this sale

McTear’s January auction is an interesting one with a significant number of Victorian and Edwardian items. Always very popular these items usually exceed their auction estimates mostly selling to bidders in the room and online. There are also many modern pieces that are sure to please bidders including diamond, tanzanite and topaz items. There are also 55 diamond solitaire rings for those looking to propose on Valentine’s Day!

Pick a favourite lot in this sale

That’s an impossible task to give someone with a passion for older jewellery but I will attempt it. Lot 1 is a standout item, the Edwardian diamond set brooch pendant, a very showy yet wearable item this is sure to do well with an estimate of £250-350. Lot 10 is a pair of art deco jade earrings, always popular with international online bidders these are sure to exceed their estimate of £150-250. From the more modern items who can resist a good solitaire? Lot 71 is good example as it is accompanied by a certificate for the stone that is 1.61 carats, colour E.
