The forthcoming Rare & Collectable whisky Auction on 7 March at McTear’s has a fantastic range of bottles for collectors, investors and consumers.

Macallan distillery is taking centre stage with a plethora of bottlings from the 10-year-old (lot. 1130), to a 1956 vintage (lot. 1033), and a 30-year-old (lot.1376) valued at £3000 – £4000.

Not only that, but McTear’s has the pleasure of being able to offer buyers the chance to bid on 21 different 18-year-olds with distillation years dating from 1972 right through to 1995.

The 1972 vintage (lot. 1056) is expected to sell for an incredible £1400-£1800, and the 1995 vintage (lot. 1102) for £150-£250, there is the chance for even the most thrifty of buyers to add a Macallan aged 18 years to their collection.

One of the slightly more unusual bottlings is a Macallan 1990 ‘Unfiltered Cask Strength’ (lot.1223). Distilled in December 1990, and bottled in January 2003, this unassuming half litre, 12-year-old Oloroso sherry matured Macallan is set to draw lots of interest with an estimate of £700 – £900.

Aside from Macallan, buyers have the chance to bid on a number of Port Ellen Annual releases, Glenmorangie vintage wood finishes and an abundance of Springbank bottlings, amongst many others.

McTear’s sells more whisky than any other traditional auction house in the dedicated whisky auctions that take place monthly, run concurrently live online on a platform that attracts six million visitors annually from over 120 countries worldwide.
