Tell us about this sale
January's auction presents the huge variety of coins and banknotes that our bidders have become accustomed to. There are a few rarer to auction items in this sale including a gold proof Queen Mother Centenary crown at lot 551, £700-1000 and a gold proof Queen Elizabeth 2002 £5 coin at lot 582 also estimated at £700-1000.

Lot 582 – HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN 1952 GOLDEN JUBILEE 2002 FIVE POUNDS GOLD PROOF COIN

Pick a favourite lot in this sale

Lot 512 is an interesting one, this is a set of sixty coins in a bound volume by John Pinches that features representations of some of the works of Michelangelo. With an encouraging estimate of £500-800 it's sure to perform well on the day. I like this set as it combines a few points of potential interest to different bidders- those looking to collect silver, coins or sets and those keen on art history.
