Out of this world!

25/04/2019     Furniture & Works of Art

From Sosson to a Spaceman, a stellar range of figures will feature in the Works of Art, Medals, Militaria and Furniture Auction at McTear’s this month.

A number of beautiful Art Deco figures will go under the hammer this month, and one standout lot is a gorgeous gilded bronze and ivory figure by French sculptor Louis Sosson. Sosson was artistically active from roughly 1905 to 1930, though little further biographical information survives regarding the artist.

This Sosson figure, circa 1920s, is modelled dancing with arms outstretched, in bangles and an attractive gilt dress, posed upon a base signed by the artist. This figure comes with an auction estimate of £1000-1500.

If you’re looking for something really out of this world, a rare Daiya Japanese 1950s battery powered Spaceman tin plate toy features at lot 1636. Packing some impressive moves, this cool Spaceman toy is bound to impress more than just children. This is estimated at £200-400.
