All Aboard!

Within our upcoming Works of Art, Furniture, Medals & Militaria Auction (7 April), we at McTear’s are delighted to be offering a selection of not one, but six original lithographic British Railways posters (Lots 1691-1696.)

Dating from the 1950s, this choice array depicts a number of popular tourist destinations from the heyday of British Railways, including Loch Etive, Edinburgh’s Scott Monument, and the Highland Games.

Stunningly rendered in colour, these posters are incredibly sought after amongst collectors, with designers such as Jack Merriott, Claude Buckle, and Kenneth Steel being well respected artists in their own right.

Offered as part of an impressive single vendor collection, this will also include Lots 1699-1702, these being a vast array of collectable pamphlets, posters and other reading materials relating to the development of British Railways.

Coming during a year when the staycation couldn’t be more relevant, perhaps these works will serve buyers as an important reminder of some of the phenomenal holiday destinations we have just on our doorsteps!
