Diamonds from a peeress could be the perfect Christmas present

A stunning collection of diamond jewellery, gathered during a lifetime of high society living by a Scottish lady of title, could fetch over £50k when it goes under the hammer at McTear’s on 28 November.

Diamond encrusted panthers, sparkling diamond necklaces and diamond brooches are just a few of the items in the 80 lot collection, with a stunning individual 4.26 carat emerald and diamond ring estimated to sell for up to £4k.

Other lots include a magnificent diamond bracelet, worth £5k and an impressive Tanzanite and diamond ring, with a similar price tag.

Commenting on the auction, McTear’s Jewellery Specialist, Amy Cameron, said: “This is a quite magnificent collection, with many of the pieces showcased and admired over the years at some of the country’s highest profile events. It is a truly eclectic mix of items with a quirky diamond encrusted clown and a jaguar pendant sitting alongside an array of classical diamond pendants, rings and bracelets.

“With Christmas around the corner, this could be the perfect opportunity to pick up not only a stunning item of jewellery, but a rare and unusual piece with connections to high society.”

The collection, which is being sold by an anonymous vendor, will feature as part of McTear’s wider November Jewellery Auction.  Other items in the auction include a magnificent love heart diamond bracelet, containing two 2.5 carat heart shaped diamonds, which is estimated to fetch between £16k and £18k, while a similarly priced rare fancy coloured diamond ring will also go under the hammer.

Amongst the other 284 lots available for sale will be diamond and other jewellery estimated under one hundred pounds.

The Jewellery Auction will take place at McTear’s in Glasgow on Sunday 28 November, starting at 12pm.
