Table top treasures…

The Works of Art, Medals, Militaria & Furniture Auction this May at McTear’s comprises an eclectic mixture of brilliant items from the near and distant past. With the ‘furniture’ category well represented this month, this auction likewise includes some wondrous little table-top talking points which can truly complete an interior!

 

If you caught a glimpse of the Automaton which appeared for auction at McTear’s last month, you’ll likely be delighted to hear that two more are due to follow suit and go under the hammer in this forthcoming sale. These comprise two Victorian examples, including one modelled as a Conjurer, and the other as a girl. This quirky due are sure to attract interest on Thursday 20 May, when they are offered at lots 1396 and 1397 respectively.

 

 

An amazing Art Deco figural table lamp is another sure fire way to light up your room! Featuring at lot 1314, this beautiful lamp is formed as a bronzed spelter nude lady with arms raised, in front of a shaped screen. This stunning Art Deco light is offered with an attractive estimate of £200-300. If its Art Deco you’re after, a fantastic pair of Art Deco style bronze dancers after Romain (Erte) de Tirtoff might just catch your eye (lot 1445). This beautiful duo, colourfully clad in flapper dress and modelled dancing as you’d expect, is offered with an auction estimate of £700-900.

 

If Art Deco isn’t up your street, you might instead be carried away with a rather precious Palais Royal giltmetal inkwell, formed as a four wheel horse drawn carriage. This beautiful inkwell is offered for sale as part of a fine private collection from the Scottish borders. A grand addition to any desk, this is estimated at £300-500.
