The Beautiful Ballerina

When it comes to diamond rings, there are so many different styles to choose from that it can be quite overwhelming. Clusters, solitaires, three stone, five stone, seven stone – the list goes on! But sometimes it is the more unique and lesser seen designs that produce the most showstopping results. 

The ballerina ring is a design first seen in the 1950’s which was favoured by some of the most prestigious jewellery houses such as Boucheron, Oscar Heyman and Tiffany & Co. Inspired by the flowing movement of a ballerina’s tutu, these rings take expert precision to create. Only the most highly skilled craftsmen can pull off this design with meticulous attention to detail required to cut the diamonds to the exact dimensions to ensure that they fit together seamlessly. Often set with a central precious gem and tapered baguette cut diamonds, there are many variations of this ring, each equally as beautiful as each other. 

Lot 855 is an impressive opal and diamond ballerina ring. Set with a cabochon opal of approximately 4.48 carats surrounded by tapered baguette cut diamonds totalling approximately 2.17 carats and set in platinum.
