Artworks by Douglas Lennox

Artworks by Douglas Lennox

Auction ended Sunday, 19 May 2013

Born 1948. Educated in Kilmarnock. Attended Glasgow School of Art 1966-70 and Jordanhill College of Education 1970-71. Principal Teacher of Art in Grange Academy in Kilmarnock. Early retirement in 2006 means Dougie can concentrate full-time on painting. He now lives in Darvel in the Irvine Valley which has been the inspiration for much of his work.

His work is predominantly made up of landscapes and seascapes in Ayrshire. The seascapes mainly feature the marinas and harbours of the nearby coast, although recently he has also found his subject matter in Fife, East Lothian, Madeira and the North Shore of Boston. The basis of his work is simply a continual fascination with what he sees. He works directly in front of the subject throughout the year as he feels that there is no substitute to being out there responding to changing light and seasons. His work is in a variety of media to suit conditions and subject - oil, watercolour, gouache and pastels.

Duncan Shanks, who was one of his teachers at art school, was an early influence. The work of the Impressionists, The Glasgow Boys and the Scottish Colourists are all constant influences.

Dougie has work in galleries in Ayrshire, Glasgow and the East Coast as well as in private collections in Europe and America.

Morton Jerseys

Morton Jerseys

Auction ended Sunday, 12 May 2013

Welcome to the end of season Greenock Morton Jersey Auction, a chance to bid for a replica Morton jersey, each individually signed by the current squad. Although the Club has narrowly missed out on promotion, this is your chance to celebrate the remarkable achievements the players have made this season, earning a points tally that in most other seasons would have seen The ‘Ton propelled into the SPL.

The jerseys are not match worn, but have been donated completely free of charge by Smith’s Sports of Greenock, each autographed by the squad earlier this month. No sale commission is being taken by Gallery1842, all sale proceeds are going to Morton Youth Development. Upon a successful purchase, your jersey may be collected from McTear’s in Glasgow. Alternatively it can be posted to you at a cost of £15 (plus VAT) per jersey or, if you live in Inverclyde, hand delivered free of charge. Remember, your purchase price is subject to a premium of 20%, with VAT added to the premium.

We would like to acknowledge Smith's Sports generosity in donating the jereys used in this auction, we also extend our thanks to Tontastic for allowing us to use images of the Morton players featured on www.tontastic.com
