MID-19TH CENTURY

the white cotton waistcoat with seven white metal filigree buttons (across six holes), two pockets, embroidered red monogram of a coronet over letter W verso, each wool / felt cap with same monogram over a number, along with a letter of provenance

The letter dates to circa mid-19th century, and is handwritten on parchment with partial wax seal. It is inscribed,

The Honourable Herbert Meade ... Castle

a night cap that belonged to the late Field Marshall, The Duke of Wellington who died at Walmer Castle 14th September 1852

Also a further (early 20th century note) inscribed
