Note: Four of Ian Orchardson's paintings are recorded in UK Public Collections. Ian Orchardson lived in Saltcoats on the Ayrshire coast where he taught as an art teacher. He then left teaching to concentrate full time on his interest of painting Clyde shipping. He painted a variety of shipping including Steamers and Clippers as well as the series of six famous 'Doon the Water' stops of Dunoon Pier, Gourock Pier, Greenock Pier, Helensburgh Pier, Rothesay Pier and Wemyss Bay.
