Note: Painter, notably of flowers and landscapes in oil and pastels using a rich palette, born in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, married to the artist William Armour. Like him she taught at Glasgow School of Art, having studied there, 1920–5, under Maurice Greiffenhagen and David Forrester Wilson. She showed with RSW, RSA and Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, being a member of all, as well as SSA and Fine Art Society in Glasgow. She was honorary president of Glasgow School of Art in 1982. There was a tribute exhibition at Lillie Art Gallery, Milngavie, 2001. Collections at public galleries in Glasgow, Paisley, Aberdeen, Perth and Edinburgh hold her work. Lived in Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire. A genuine titan of Scottish art in the twentieth century.
