Note: Glenveagh Castle has an interesting history. Building was started, in the Scottish Baronial style, inspired by Balmoral, in 1863, and completed in 1879, around the time this picture was painted. It was built by a wealthy American, John George Adair (1823 - 1885), It was inherited on his death by his daughter, and remained in American ownership until 1983 when the then owner, Henry McIIhenney, gifted it to the Irish nation.
