* JANE HICKMAN (BRITISH CONTEMPORARY),
VASE OF FLOWERS
batik on fabric, signed in the mount
image size 37cm x 36cm, overall size 59cm x 56cm
Mounted, framed and under glass.
Note: Jane Hickman has been painting original Batik designs which are predominantly flower-based for over 35 years. Batik is a way to decorate fabric, such as Silk or Cotton with coloured dyes. The technique makes it possible to have different coloured areas of dye next to each other in a design. To achieve this hot molten wax is used. Having dyed an area of fabric it is possible to “resist” the intrusion of other dyes by waxing out the first area of coloured dye.
A condition report is offered as an indication of any issues visible to the naked eye. As none of our staff is a professional conservator or restorer, buyers must satisfy themselves in respect of condition and McTear’s can provide contact details of local professionals who can provide fully comprehensive expert reports, usually for a modest charge. The condition report does not form part of any contract between McTear's and the buyer, and all lots are offered "as is" in accordance with our Terms of Business available on our website.
