BERTIE AULD OF CELTIC F.C., PAIR OF NUMBER 10 SHORTS
CIRCA 1967

stitched number in green, signed, mounted, framed and under glass

Note: Reputedly worn by Bertie Auld and then gifted to the vendor's grandfather after the European Cup final in Lisbon on the 25th May 1967.

These shorts were passed down to the owner from their grandfather (John McEwan of Girvan) via their father. Their grandfather was at the European Cup final working as a photographer for the Evening Citizen newspaper. The owner’s understanding is that these with gifted to him in the changing room after the match and signed by the team and manager.

John McEwan was a veteran Girvan photographer for the Daily Express and Evening Citizen. It was with the latter that he covered the European Cup final, which was said to be the highlight of his career.

The shorts have latterly been on loan and displayed at Celtic Park.
