Note: This important silver casket was presented to an Arsenal player to mark the 1st leg of the British Championship tie vs. Arsenal. Rangers won this tie 2-0, and then defeated Arsenal again 3-1 at Highbury to emerge as British Champions.
We can now confirm this would have been presented to an Arsenal player as per the following excerpt from Jeff Holmes book, The Greatest Ranger Ever? David Meiklejohn,
'After a thoroughly competitive game, played in a great spirit, the players adjourned to the St. Enoch Station Hotel for dinner and speeches. Each Arsenal player received a silver cigarette case and Sir Samuel Hill Wood, the Arsenal Chairman, said, 'We've seen footballwhich we are not in the habbit of witnessing in England. In fact, we've been taught a mouthful!''
