* PETER SMITH (SCOTTISH b. 1949)
CHELTENHAM

oil on board, signed
framed and under glass

image size 24cm x 34cm, overall size 38cm x 48cm

Note: Peter Smith was born in Lanarkshire in 1949. He feels that his artistic talents stem from his grandfather, who hailed from Portugal and who painted for most of his life. Smith's early interest in painting and art was matched by a passion for horses, so that as a child he always aspired to being an equestrian artist and his first drawing was of a horse. He attended the Carlisle and then the Glasgow School of Art and acknowledges that he admires a broad spectrum of artists, taking his inspiration from such diverse masters as Degas and Munnings. Peter Smith lives near Ayr, where the open landscape creates a perfect atmosphere in which to find his inspiration. Peter Smith's original works and limited edition publications are much sought after and his artwork graces art collections worldwide.

A condition report is offered as an indication of any issues visible to the naked eye. As none of our staff is a professional conservator or restorer, buyers must satisfy themselves in respect of condition and McTear’s can provide contact details of local professionals who can provide fully comprehensive expert reports, usually for a modest charge.
