MAP OF THE WORLD ON MERCATOR'S PROJECTIONS,
pub. J. & C. Walker, London, 1840, dedicated 'TO HER MOST GRACIOUS MAJESTY Queen Victoria...', comprising forty plates on folding linen back, 131cm x 83cm overall
Note: This unusual map is noteworthy for its inclusion of the Republic of Texas. The Republic was a short-lived nation, being established in 1836 upon the state seceding from Mexico. As it began to be populated with more American settlers, it would eventually join the United States 10 years later in 1846.
