Lot 2182

* TONY FORREST (BRITISH) PARLIAMENT, FROM SOUTHBANK oil on board, signed 90cm x 115cm Framed Note: Lots 2182 and 2183 are two paintings by one of the world's best known living wildlife artists. ''I have been painting wildlife for the past 30 years but, living in Cornwall I have been inspired by artists down here and have, from time to time, painted other subjects. I am very inspired by the work of Ken Howard and others who are more interested in light and atmosphere than anything else. These two paintings were done in the early to mid 2000s. I went through a period of painting cities - London and New York being the main two. I stopped off at New York once on the way to Texas for my wildlife work (white tail deer, but that's another story!). I was so excited by New York that I decided to go back there to take photos and paint it. During the same period I was also travelling to London as it too was exciting to paint. These two are part of this series.'' Tony Forrests's paintings have been widely exhibited around the world and are sold in the UK through the network of Whitewall Galleries. The typical gallery price of these paintings would be approximately £11,000 each. Very few Tony Forrest paintings have appeared at public auction but a 76 x 101cm oil sold at Christie's 15.10.1998 lot 163 for £3600 (hammer).
