Note: Daughter of the artist Laura Loudon (nee Bennie) and John Loudon, Art Master at Hamilton Academy and later Chief Inspector of Art for Scotland. Noni McCrone studied at Glasgow School of Art and became a member of The Glasgow Society of Lady Artists. She exhibited with Mary Armour, Alison McKenzie, Noel Slaney, Margaret Paterson, Anna Hotchkis, Louise Annand and other members at 5, Blythswood Square and at several other venues in the Glasgow area. Noni exhibited two paintings at the RSA (as Miss Noni Loudon) in 1925 & 1928 but marriage and raising a family put a very promising career on hold until 1961 when she started painting and exhibiting again. Between 1961 and 1981 she had a further 20 paintings accepted by the RSA under her married name (Noni McCrone). RSA records show her address in 1961 was "Tralorg, Crieff, Perthshire" and from 1967 onwards, at 3 Callum's Hill, Crieff.

A condition report is offered as an indication of any issues visible to the naked eye. As none of our staff is a professional conservator or restorer, buyers must satisfy themselves in respect of condition and McTear’s can provide contact details of local professionals who can provide fully comprehensive expert reports, usually for a modest charge. The condition report does not form part of any contract between McTear's and the buyer, and all lots are offered "as is" in accordance with our Terms of Business available on our website.
