The Silver Auction

  Lot 466

LATE GEORGE III SILVER WINE COASTER maker's mark rubbed, probably London 1816, of walled circular form, partially gadrooned, with gadrooned rim with shell details, turned wooden base, silver roundel engraved with initials 'REL', approximately 359g (wooden base), 17.5cm in diameter Note: The hallmarks on this piece are very rubbed but the top half of three of the marks can be seen. Judging by the top half of the date letter and the presence of both the duty mark and the top of the crowned leopard's head it is likely this piece was assayed in London in 1816.
