Note: Alfred Allan also paints under the name Allan Nelson. He is a well known artist living in Fife and he paints the surrounding areas. His vibrant beach scenes (signed Nelson) are enthusiastically collected as are his more conventional paintings which he signs "Allan". A recent example "Harbour, St Monan's" a 60 x 75cm oil on canvas, signed "Allan" was sold in The Scottish Contemporary Art Auction 7th July 2019. lot 665 for £650 (hammer).
