Note: All at McTear's were saddened to hear of the passing of Brenda Lenaghan. Brenda's distinctive pictures have regularly appeared in The Scottish Contemporary Art Auctions and are enthusiastically collected by an ever growing number of discerning buyers. The most recent example being lot 530 The Sun Worshippers, 1st Sept 2019 which sold for £1100 (hammer).
Note 2: Brenda Lenaghan DA RSW was born is Galashiels in 1941. She went on to study at Glasgow School of Art between 1958-63. Brenda won many awards, including SSWA's Anne Redpath Award in 1975 & 1983, and the Special Award in 1980. Brenda also won the RSA's Maud Gemmell Hutchison Award in 1996. Brenda's son lives and works in Japan and she visited him every year. The art of Japan had a profound influence over her work.
